Back to bed...

Last Thursday, I left school early because my blood pressure had skyrocketed.  When I got to the doctor, he informed me that I had worked my last day until the baby was born.  He then sent me up to L&D for observation.  My blood pressure did go down, so he decided that I could do bedrest at home rather than the antepartum unit.  Thank goodness!  I was not looking forward to a month in the hospital.  Monday I had my follow up appointment and Dr. Carlos confirmed that yes, bedrest was working and so that is what I would be doing.

Yesterday my mom came and did laundry, helped clean... it was fabulous!  Everything is ready... we just need baby!  The nurse at the hospital said since I have had high blood pressure, if he hasn't come by the 39th week, they will probably induce... that means we should meet our son by June 21st!  Dr. Carlos said we would probably meet him in the next three weeks!  I cannot wait!

I'm done...

I'm done with so much right now... I really NEED a break!  We have 9 days of school left which is good because any more would drive me absolutely bonkers.  I am so ready to meet our little guy.  I want to hold him and love him and kiss his little fingers and toes.  My mom's due date for me was miscalculated.  I was supposed to be born in mid to late October and my mom was told a week before I was born (Sept 27th) that she was dialated, I wasn't early, they were just wrong.  I weighed 7lbs 13oz.  I have read that birth patterns can be hereditary.  If that is true, maybe we will be meeting Baby Easterling sooner rahter than later!  IF he is healthy and ready, I say come on baby!  On the other side of that, if he isn't ready, STAY PUT!  I am ready for the insomnia to be over.  I am ready to wear pants with a button and a zipper again!  I am ready to NOT drive to Irving everyday!  Sorry to rant this early in the morning, but I am seriously tired, cranky and ready to be done with school and pregnancy!

It is official!

I am extremely happy to report that Danny was sworn in as a future soldier last night!  The right people finally measured him to be within the Army standards (even though according to his recruiter and our measurements, he has been there for a couple months)!  My school gave me a baby shower yesterday and I got some amazing things!  Lots of amazing things actually... our pack and play and highchair, tons of clothes teethers, rattles, a book, and other things.  We are very lucky!  Overall, yesterday was a great day for the Easterling family!

Steph and I decided last night that we would have our "friends" shower after the baby comes.  Otherwise, it was going to have to be next weekend and we didn't think that was enough notice.  Especially since most of my good friends are at least two hours away!  The next weekend is Memorial Day and then Steph is going to Wisconsin from June 4th through 20th!  (Apparently I have to have him either before or after her trip:)) We are going to have a "Welcome to the World Baby Boy" shower instead.  I think it will work out great because people will get to meet him!

Texas Sized!

I just got out of my 33 week appointment.  All is good.  The cramping I had today was Braxton-Hicks contractions.  Guess my body is just preparing itself for what the doctor said is a Big Texas Sized Baby growing in me!!!  He said he is already over 5 pounds!  YAY!  My blood pressure was still good but still a little higher than normal for me so we will just keep an eye on it.  I am hanging out at the hospital tonight.  I have prep for childbirth class at 7 so I ate here.  Now I'm blogging here and checking facebook.  I should be doing lesson plans, but this is way more fun!  As promised, here are some pictures of the nursery.  All of the bedding was made by my wonderfully talented and beautiful mother.  Since these were taken, we have added a rug and one curtain.  I will probably get the other curtain Saturday when my mom comes down to go to Lamaze class with me.  Danny had to work so my mom is filling in!  He also had to work tonight so I'm going to have to take care of the baby alone.  It is all good though because honestly, when he joins the Army, there will be times when I will be alone and I will have to do everything by myself.  Guess I better get used to it!

Ok, here they are:

The beautiful hardwood floors after Danny refinished them.

The baby bedding... all we need is our baby boy!

The diaper stacker... I remember my mom making these all the time when I was little and thinking that they were the coolest things!  I was a wierd kid...

The glider I was able to get with the gift card the school gave me for a wedding present.  We needed baby stuff more!

The lampshade I painted... not bad, just don't turn it on with the lights off... totally doesn't have the coverage I thought it did!

One of the art pieces I did... stole the design from a pillow my mom got the baby.

There is a third one with the babies name, but I can't post it yet!

I have my baby shower at school tomorrow and I am so excited!  So far it is the only one I am having... people keep asking and I just have to say uh... i dunno.  Awww- there is a baby getting to go home!  I love newborns and can't wait to meet mine!

Paranoia and pregnancy don't mix

I am the kind of person who over- analyzes everything.  This is especially accentuated when I am hormonal or stressed.  Yea, I'm not having issues or freak-outs at all.  Course all these newsletters and books are meant to keep you informed in case there is a problem.  Is that what they do for me?  NO!  They scare me to death and convince me that I'm going to have the baby any minute!  Last week I had a scary moment, turned out to be nothing.  (but i did get to see baby!)  I honestly think the baby dropped Saturday but it seems too soon.  Now i'm having another symptom but don't know if I should call or just wait til my regular appointment on Wednesday.  I don't want to be that paranoid pregnant lady.  On the other hand, if something is wrong, I want to do everything I can to make sure baby is okay.  Any advice for me?

Surprise Delivery!

We got our rug early!  I have been looking for a rug for the baby's room for about 2 months now.  The floor is refinished hardwood and is beautiful... Danny did a great job!  But I wanted a soft, dog hair free zone for baby to play.  I searched everywhere I could think of from high end, hoping to find a bargain, to the clearance sections at Walmart and couldn't find anything.  Oh I found a few I like, a couple I loved, but those were usually about $400.  I was looking to spend less than $100.  I even went so far as to put a want ad on Craigslist.  Still nothing.  Then I saw an ad online for Kmart.  Hadn't thought of them since the closest ones are either Abilene or Texarkana.  I found just what I wanted... and the best part was it was 50% off!  And it was only $70 to begin with!  Its a little bigger than I was looking for.  It is a 6'x9', but the best part was, I could spend $15 more and get free shipping!  So I bought another mattress pad and a couple crib sheets and boom!  It wasn't supposed to be delivered until Wednesday, but I got home from school last night to find two boxes on the front porch!  I have found some bargains for this room and it all seems to be coming together!

We decided on a name... we think!  We still aren't going to tell in case we take one look at him and its just not the right name for him.  We had narrowed it down from 4 to 2, but we are both leaning toward one favorite (finally!).  As soon as I figure out how, I'm going to post a poll to see what other people's favorites are and to see how many choose the one we like!  All our middle names are family names... first names are just random ones we like!  Which will it be?!
